Garden work day: April 29, 2006

My Neighbor's Garden has scheduled a spring work day for Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. The Garden is located on the corner of Weston Canal and Randolph Roads in Somerset, New Jersey.

Project goals include:
1) landscaping around the perimeter to discourage animal invasions
2) planting an evergreen privacy border for the residents next door
3) double-digging and planting beds #1 & #2
4) building/establishing compost piles
5) assembling, painting and installing a small arbor entrance
6) planting fruit trees and shrubs

Helping "Neighbors" in New Orleans

Zarephath Christian Church has come alongside Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans after their devastion by Hurricane Katrina. A team of ZCC volunteers will be spending the week of April 2-7, 2006, in New Orleans assisting with the removal of debris to make room for reconstruction. The team will work during the day and experience Desire Street's "Urban Institute" in the evenings to learn more about urban ministry.
